Hi, I’m Rissa.I’m the creator behind Grave Moon Studios, an independent horror production studio based in Chicago, Illinois.Grave Moon Studios came to life because I believe horror is at its most powerful when it reflects the world we already live in.The fear of being alone in a crowded room, for example, is a fear I have, and also happens to be one that is shared with many other horror fans I know. The weight of grief, unshed tears and emotions kept inside are all a recipe for inspiring horror media. The stories hidden behind closed doors, even, the ones any real-life "monster" has asked us to keep quiet about. The masks people wear to survive...My work isn’t about shocking audiences with gore—it’s about inviting them to confront the quiet, uncomfortable truths that have been staring back at them all along.Growing up in Puerto Rican culture taught me that stories can change lives, save relationships, prevent disaster, and be more intentional with our energy and beliefs. They preserve history, teach wisdom and warnings, strengthen families, and give shape to the things we can’t always explain.That perspective continues to influence my work today, inspiring me to create horror that is rooted not only in fear, but in memory, identity, and the emotions that connect us to one another, good or bad.Grave Moon Studios became the place where those ideas could grow and thrive together. Whether a project begins as a melody, a passing or intense conversation, or a photograph, every piece is created with the hope that it leaves something meaningful behind long after the experience of enjoying these productions end.Inclusivity has always been at the heart of this studio. As a woman-owned, Puerto Rican-led independent creative space, Grave Moon Studios welcomes audiences and collaborators of every background. Horror belongs to everyone, and some of the most powerful stories come from voices that have too often gone unheard.Chicago itself is never far from my work. The city's rain-soaked streets, aging architecture, late-night trains, and quiet alleys have shaped much of the atmosphere I create, blending noir influences with gothic storytelling and a fascination with the unknown. Sometimes the scariest places aren't abandoned at all...they're the ones we walk past every day without looking twice.Whether you're listening to an original composition, exploring a piece of horror media, or following along with whatever strange project comes next, my goal is simple: to remind you that the deepest, darkest horrors, can be derived from the most normal things.
